Vivo, Chinese Smartphone Brand, to Incorporate Play-Fi Into Products

LAS VEGAS (BUSINESS WIRE) — January 07, 2014 — CES (Booth #9839) — DTS, Inc. (Nasdaq: DTSI), a leader in high-definition audio solutions and audio enhancement technologies, today announced it has expanded its relationship with vivo, a premium Chinese smartphone brand, to support the Play-Fi(TM) platform on the vivo mobile product line. With this announcement, consumers will be able to download the Play-Fi app from the vivo store, and instantly unlock Play-Fi functionality, allowing them to enjoy music stored on, or streaming to, their vivo products on any Play-Fi connected audio system(s) within their home.

"Building upon the recent news that we are integrating DTS Headphone:X(TM) into our product line, we are excited to further expand our relationship with DTS to offer our customers access to Play-Fi," said Mr. Feng Lei, CMO of vivo. "By enabling Play-Fi on our products, consumers will be able to seamlessly enjoy their music from their own collections, or music streaming from popular music services, to any connected wireless audio system or speaker, without any loss in audio quality. Consumers are sure to enjoy the sense of truly being linked to their music that Play-Fi provides."

Play-Fi is an advanced audio platform capable of streaming lossless, high-quality audio to multiple rooms simultaneously using a standard home Wi-Fi network. Unlike single speaker wireless solutions, which only allow users to stream directly to one speaker from their mobile devices, Play-Fi gives users full control of an entire network of speakers in the home. Users can set-up, link, and stream audio to one Play-Fi enabled speaker or multiple speakers throughout the home at once, perfectly synchronized and with no lag.

"Connected devices shouldn't just keep us connected to the Internet and our social networks, they should be designed to connect with us," said Brian Towne, executive vice president and chief operating officer, DTS. "It was with this philosophy in mind that we developed Play-Fi, an advanced open platform that enables devices to connect people to their music in a whole new way. With Play-Fi, you have complete control of your music, whether it be stored on your device, your home network, or streaming from one of several popular streaming music service providers that support the Play-Fi technology, and with the tap of a finger can enjoy it out loud, how it was meant to be heard, on one or more wireless speaker systems connected to your home Wi-Fi network, eliminating the need to dock your device or plug in any wires."
